While the original focus was retail/residential standard floorcovering, we started commercial flooring in 1978. Our first synthetic gym floor (Mondo) was installed in 1980, the first epoxy floor was installed in 1984 and the first wood gym floor was installed in 1990. Our involvement in the epoxy floor business lead to the purchase of Blastrac bead blasting equipment in 1995 and an Ardex Pump for self-leveling products in 1999. Both of these required sending personnel Outside for training and bringing qualified technicians to Alaska for further training on site.

We currently are required to send personnel Outside annually to maintain our status as a certified installation firm. Additionally, at least once a year, we have one of the manufacturer's technical representative come to Alaska for additional training and updating of our installation techniques.

Jim Bagley stands behind his Gym Floors

Our main focus is now gym floors, both wood and synthetic. We have successfully installed over 200 gym floors in Alaska as well as several in the State of Washington. We pride ourselves in keeping abreast of this rapidly changing field and are routinely consulted by our suppliers about the unique conditions our long winters bring to bear particularly on the wood gym floors. We know from experience what works in Alaska and what does not.

We offer a free, no obligation site visit to any Owner seriously considering the installation of a gym floor.

We are extremely proud of our achievements over the years. In 1996, in spite of Alaska's smaller population base, Alaskan Industries, Inc. received an award from Robbins, Inc for the highest synthetic sales volume in the Western US and Canada. In 2001 our installation of Terracolor in the Commons at Teeland Middle School won the National Award for Dex-O-Tex's best Decorative Epoxy Installation. In 2003 Robbins, Inc honored Alaskan Industries, Inc. with their National Synthetic Surface of the Year Award for our Pulastic FA installation at Kake High School in Southeast Alaska.
